Free Postpartum Planning Guide

You've got your birth bag ready, baby shower planned, practiced putting the car seat in the car, but nobody has really stopped to ask what you may need once baby is here.

So many women spend so much time planning for the birth and for baby but don't even give themselves a second thought. Then baby arrives. Suddenly you're overwhelmed spending all day feeding, changing nappies, feeding again, cleaning up, with not a moment to even drink some water or shower the day's grime off you.

It doesn't have to be like that.

Imagine feeling at ease cuddling your baby, knowing that your mum is going to pop round to help with your laundry. Being able to grab some food out the fridge because that meal train you set up weeks ago is tootling along nicely, fresh meals brought each day by those who care about you.

You can walk into those first few weeks like popping to the shops for some milk- you know what you want, you know what to expect, and you get the one you want, rather than wandering the aisles and hoping for the best.

This guide will help you create that plan.

You'll get 3 videos and a PDF to go alongside it.

Simply fill in your details and you'll get the first of 3 videos sent straight to your inbox

People love to help. They just don't know how

I talk to so many clients that've become mums for the first time, and one common thing they say, is that they underestimated how much support they actually needed. Asking for help isn't highly respected in our society- yet we teach our children to ask for help or reprimand them for not asking! Backwards.

The postpartum world- of baby groups, meetings in coffee shops that have zero space for buggies- is flooded with opinions, mums held in high- esteem when we believe they have everything 'together', it can be a very difficult to admit that you need help.

I am a firm believer that asking for help is a strength. It takes a lot of courage to go against the grain and say those words, "I need help". However, people that care for us, also love to help!

This is something I would love to see change, and am actively advocating for. Support for mums shouldn't come when they're struggling, it should be there from day 1 of becoming a mum.

That's where this guide comes in. It gives the chance to look around you, see what you may need help with, while you take some time to recover and bond with your baby.

Think, someone bringing you food that actually restores your body.

Someone coming in to sort your now endless laundry piles, and putting fresh sheets on your bed

Perhaps someone coming in to give your achy shoulders a massage, after hours of holding your baby

This guide helps you think about:

  • Who is there to help you, even to talk to

  • What they can do to help

  • What meals will you eat and who will prepare them

  • How visitors will be managed

  • How you will rest- what this will look

By the time baby arrives, you'll know what to expect, you'll know how things will look.

What's involved exactly?

You'll get 3 videos across 3 days, and then a few follow up emails to help you and guide you on your next steps.

There will be a PDF to go alongside, and this is where you get to write whatever comes up for you, using the journal prompts.

This goes at exactly the pace you want it to go.

Why did I make this?

I'm Amy, and I was unprepared for my postpartum. I've created this to help others be less like me.

I struggled. Nobody really spoke about postpartum with me, just to say, "goodbye to sleep". Helpful. Real helpful.

If someone would have mentioned having a party with friends to batch cook meals for when there's little time once baby arrives, it would have shifted how I thought life would be.

So next time you're sat wondering whether it's worth it, that you're postpartum won't be too bad, just remember, being helped is actually pretty great, and what would Amy do? And probably do the opposite.

Imagine lying in bed with your baby, a trusted friend comes round, brings you a cup of herbal tea, asks if there's anything you need, and takes your dog for a walk for an hour.

Let's spend a bit of time planning for you.

"Amy is a super friendly, lovely person with a calm energy, who helped prepare us for what to expect during labour and birth"

"Amy is really approachable and helpful and also shares additional pregnancy related information which is very useful.
I would highly recommend Amy's classes to all the mommies-to-be out there"

"She’s friendly, knowledgeable, and incredibly supportive"

"I would 100% recommend Amy and her services, they were a really positive aspect of my pregnancy"

Got questions?

Don't worry, I've got you. Here are some that are asked a lot...

All 3 sessions are pre-recorded, so you can watch them in your own time, and go back to as many times as you need.

Each video is approximately 10-15minutes. The workbook will take around 5-10minutes, but if you want to take more time to explore, then that's OK too

Birth prep is primarily for birth. If the course covers postpartum, it may be enough- I can't comment on individual courses. Most don't go into quite the same depth, and that gap is what this bridges.

Postpartum support is common around the world, in all cultures. However, things are not quite the same over here. More parents are facing postpartum alone. Planning can help you see the bigger picture, see who and what help there is, and change how postpartum is viewed in the future.

Absolutely! This is suitable for all types of births and any outcome

Most people find it most useful during pregnancy, but if you find this during postpartum, then it's just as useful.

This plan is about helping you see opportunities, find what you really want. Many plans need to be tinkered, or adapted anyway, as we can't plan for every eventuality. It's not about complete control, but having a framework

Sometimes, we just need more support! And that's absolutely fine. Once you've worked through the guide, if you still feel you need extra help, there will be pointers on next steps that we can take together
